Who will benefit
This course is ideal for those with responsibility for developing the performance of others, whether or not this is within a formal reporting relationship. It is also beneficial for those people aspiring to move into a ‘people management’ role and for whom this forms part of their personal development.
Objectives
Developing a high performance culture can only be achieved if leaders and managers have the ability to give feedback and coach their people effectively. This course explores and develops the skills needed to develop others’ performance using a coaching style. This is a highly participative course with the emphasis on ‘doing’. Theory sessions are deliberately kept to a minimum to give participants maximum opportunity to practice their skills.

  • Understand the key elements of effective coaching
  • Creating a coaching environment and developing trust
  • Overcoming barriers to coaching
  • Planning and preparing for an effective coaching conversation
  • Increasing self awareness and your coaching style
  • Develop the skills of coaching, active listening, questioning, reflecting and summarising
  • Team and individual coaching
  • Deliver skilful and effective feedback using the AID approach
  • Effective goal setting and action planning
  • Structure a coaching conversation using the GROW model
  • Practice and demonstrate the qualities of a high performance coach through one-to-one coaching practice and gain motivational and developmental feedback
  • Develop ongoing coaching plans and conversations
  • Set personal goals to further develop your coaching style
