Who will benefit
Leaders and managers who are responsible for managing the performance of others and wish to increase the effectiveness of their people and improve the outcomes from the performance review discussions.
Objectives
Share good practice and reflect on how best to create an environment conducive to high performance. Participants will also have the opportunity to refine their skills of: preparing for and conducting effective performance reviews with their people; setting relevant, measurable business objectives; and supporting their teams draft meaningful personal development plans.
Course Content
  • Identify the working practices in their area of the business that are likely to lead to a motivated team and those that are likely to inhibit a high performing culture
  • Identify the relationship between performance management, the performance review, colleague engagement and organisational effectiveness
  • Describe the performance management system to your team and the resulting benefits
  • Write effective individual and departmental business objectives that are aligned to their organisation’s goals
  • Write effective learning objectives and help their staff select the most appropriate development methods to meet their needs
  • Prepare effectively for and conduct performance review and agreement meetings with direct reports
  • Develop a healthy feedback culture and use praise effectively to recognise and reinforce good performance and optimise morale/confidence
  • Give developmental feedback timeously and effectively so that corrective action can be taken at the earliest opportunity
    Explore the various approaches needed for managing differing levels of performance
  • Be clear in how to assist colleagues with their personal development planning and create a climate of continuous improvement
